Most of us hate receving it.

It is illegal in most countries

So why do we still get inundated with SPAM????

There could be one simple explanation (aside from the obvious unscrupulous internet spammers selling private information).

I want you to ask yourself this:

Does your or your employees' email addresses feature on your website?

If the answer is yes you can almost guarantee they will be receiving many many MANY unsolicited emails per day.

Preventing the email collection process

The simple fact is that if you feature an email address on a website spammers will use tools to scour the Internet looking for 'mailto' code on each and every site. If it is found, it collects it and adds it to the list.

Not exactly the nicest thing, but unfortunately the way things are.

Fighting Back with Web Forms

Of course the big problem is that by removing contact details from your site means that people cannot get in touch. Have you considered using web forms? Forms that do not give away personal information, but gather contact details from people wishing to communicate to you.

They are relatively simple to set up and give you the following features:

Anti-SPAM - automatically stop spammers being able to collect email addresses and phone numbers
Standard format - you can decide how you wish to receive communications so that they are always received in the same way, making them simple to follow
Data protection - users of the form can choose whether they wish to receive marketing communications in accordance with the Data Protection Act
Storage - communications could be stored in a database ensuring they do not get deleted or lost
Traceability - by assigning unique IDs to each piece of communication, users can recommunicate using the same ID and all corresponding commmunications can be traced to completion
